A woman, who had a very mild case of acne, contacted our office yesterday and asked if we thought Pretty Mommies products would be too harsh or would dry out her skin, since they seem to be effective for more serious acne. This question generated a response that was very easy for us at Pretty Mommies to answer, but got us thinking maybe not a lot of people know how and why our products work so well. We felt discussing why our skin care line is effective at helping with acne but incredibly different than your typical drugstore brand would make for a perfect topic for our blog.
If an all natural product line like Pretty Mommies is good at helping hormonal acne does that mean it is too harsh for somebody to use with normal or sensitive skin? Absolutely not, because our products are based on a completely different formulation process and science compared to common acne products found on the market today. We believe in restoring the skins normal pH levels with all natural ingredients that are rich in vitamins and nutrients to provide for an overall healthy complexion. Our ingredients will hydrate, protect, and provide anti-aging properties, along with antioxidants that brighten the skin and clear blemishes.
Most acne treatments work with harsh, synthetic chemicals to dry out the skin in hopes of clearing acne, but here is what typically happens: ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are commonly used in acne formulations and when you first use them you do see a mild improvement. People feel that their skin is less oily and the acne is “drying up” and therefore healing and improving. However, what ends up happening is your skin realizes that it is “especially” dry and begins producing extra oil in order to hydrate. What we have seen time and time again is that extra oil production kicks acne into overdrive and the next thing you know your skin is worse than ever!
Pretty Mommies products are great for acne but are also great for all skin types and many skin issues! It is designed to provide an all natural and complete skin care regimen, encompassing everything you would need to care for your skin in three-simple steps. It is why we see many women continue to use the products well after nursing and their husbands use it and their teens and so on…
Even though we’re Pretty Mommies, formulated for safe and effective maternity skin care, we believe it is important for everyone to have SAFE & EFFECTIVE skin care – not just pregnant women.

“Hi. I just placed an order for all 3 products. I am not currently pregnant (wish I had heard of your products when I was) but am looking for a safe and effective skincare line. I am 17 months post-pregnancy and have developed moderate acne and uneven skin. I stopped using birth control approximately 5 months ago after suffering a blood clot; I am sure that is contributing to my current skin problems. I am currently taking Warfarin and have been careful not to ingest or apply anything that may interfere with the medication. I am hoping your products help.” * Thanks, Angela
Hi Angela, thanks for the post. You should see an improvement in your skin in just a couple of weeks with continued improvement over time. Let us know if you have any questions along the way. Also, please keep us updated with your progress!
“I have been using your products for the past 2 years and love them. Are you thinking of ever expanding the line? In the winter months I need additional moisture being what the serum and SPF provide.” *
Yes we are definitely going to expand the line in the future, though I do not have an exact date yet. If you need additional moisture I highly recommend buying pure virgin coconut oil. We love Whole Foods 365, Organic Unrefined Expeller Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil. It is fantastic to use not just on your face, but all over your entire body. It will not make you breakout and there are so many amazing digestive and topical benefits! Try it out and let us know what you think. I hope this helps :).
“I wish I had known about this when I pregnant with my boys. I’ve never had great skin and, unfortunately, I have used some pretty toxic stuff to try to clear my face up. When I was pregnant with them, I stopped using everything because I was so scared that it would hurt them. My face was awful, worse than when I was a teenager. I am now pregnant with a little girl and while my skin is much better I still have blemishes. I am excited to try these products!!” *

Hi Zulema,
Thank you for your question. Did a dermatologist diagnose you and your daughter? Did they say it was eczema or is it Keratosis Pilaris? Thanks.
